Established as a separate agency by S.B. 441, 67th Leg., R.S. Administered by Texas Department of Public Safety, Agency 405. Continued by H.B. 222, 72nd Leg., 1st C.S. Continued by S.B. 309, 77th Leg., R.S. Abolished and duties transferred to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Agency 452, by S.B. 1005, 81st Leg., R.S. effective 5-27-09. Agency continues in existence until 1-1-10 for transitional purposes only.
