To record the payment of witness fees and qualifying travel expenses and allowances for a witness in:

• a criminal case when the witness is subpoenaed to appear at a proceeding occurring outside of the county in which the witness lives; or,
• an Administrative Hearing held under the Administrative Procedure and Texas Register Act..

Expenditure code 7224 includes, but is NOT limited to:

• Witness Allowances (criminal cases and administrative hearings)
• Witness Fees (criminal cases and administrative hearings)

This code does NOT include:

• Payments to professionals serving as expert witnesses (7254)
• Payments to witnesses in civil proceedings (7254)
