Description

To record the payment of interest earned on taxes paid under protest per TEX. TAX CODE § 112.060. If a suit results in final determination that all or part of the money paid under protest is due the taxpayer, the comptroller refunds the taxes due and pays the amount of interest due in accordance with state law.

Expenditure code 7812 includes, but is NOT limited to:

  • Interest (protest payments)

Note

This code does NOT include:

  • Other interest on evidence of indebtedness or judgments against the state (7802)
  • Interest paid under the provisions of the prompt payment law (7806)
  • Interest paid on refund or credit of tax or fee (7811)
