Purpose

To receive waste treatment inspection fees, recovery of costs to protect water resources, administer water quality programs, water supply system owner fees, assessments on public utilities, certification of boat sewage disposal devices, and other application and permit fees and penalties.

Also receives fees collected for used oil registration and sale of automotive oil (for §§ 371.024, 371.026 and 371.062, see Revenue Code 3596), gifts, grants donations and penalties and interest. 

Uses of the money in the account include:

  • Inspecting waste treatment facilities.
  • Enforcing the laws related to waste discharge and waste treatment facilities.
  • Water quality management and water resource management programs.
  • Registration of used oil collection centers, used oil transporters, used oil marketers, and used oil recyclers.
  • Grants and public education related to used oil recycling.
