Purpose

Created as a special fund in the state treasury outside of General Revenue for implementing the state water plan. Used by the Water Development Board without appropriation.

The Water Development Board may issue revenue bonds to provide money to the fund. The fund is used to provide financing for water projects under Water Code Chapter 15 (Subchapter Q and R), Chapter 16 (Subchapter E and F) and Chapter 17 (Subchapter J). May be used to pay principal and interest on bonds issued by the Board.

The fund consists of money transferred or deposited by the legislature, any fee, tax, or revenue dedicated to the fund, investment earnings, bond proceeds, loan repayments and other revenue associated with projects financed through the program.
