Originally established in Texas Constitution art. VII sec. 17 and referenced in Texas Revised Civil Statutes Art. 6228e. Created in 1924 to receive appropriations from General Revenue (0001) for payment of pensions for services in Confederate Army and Navy, frontier organizations, and Texas Militia, and for the widows of soldiers serving in such organizations. Last Ranger widow payment was made in FY2002. Abolished by S.B. 1735, 85th Leg., R.S. effective June 12, 2017.
