Used only for repayment or cancellation of student loans of physicians serving in designated state agencies or economically depressed areas of the state. Recreated as a GR Account and exempt from loss of dedication (§ 403.094, Government Code) by H.B. 3050, 74th Leg., R.S.

H.B. 2154, 81st Leg., R.S. created the new GR Account Physician Education Loan Repayment Program (5144) and exempted it in H.B. 4583, funds consolidation. The new 5144 account replaces this account (0542) to receive tuition set asides, effective 9/01 2009. The balance of this account was available for appropriation. The account was closed under the dormant funds provision (Government Code 403.0915) in July, 2015 and balance transferred to General Revenue 0001.
