Purpose

To receive court costs collected from defendants convicted under certain sections of the penal code. Defendants convicted of a felony pay $185, defendants convicted of a Class A or B misdemeanor pay $147 and defendants convicted of a nonjailable misdemeanor pay $62. This account receives 1.4741% of total collections. The account is used in operating and administering the Law Enforcement Management Institute; in studies of police administration, law enforcement management and advanced technical studies relating to law enforcement; and in payment of participation costs of resident students, including tuition, books, rooms, board and travel costs.
