Purpose

Consists of fees related to permitting, monitoring, inspecting anthropogenic carbon dioxide injection wells, implementing and enforcing rules, penalties, financial surety, and interest. Includes penalties related to offshore geologic storage of carbon dioxide.

Used for inspecting, monitoring, investigating, recording and reporting on geologic storage facilities and associated injection wells. Also used for remediation, repair, well plugging, training and technology transfer, compliance and enforcement.
