Purpose
Created in General Revenue to receive 9-1-1 equalization surcharges imposed on each customer receiving intrastate long-distance service, NTE 1-3/10 of 1 percent of charges for intrastate long-distance service. Surcharges allocated to regional planning commissions, poison control centers and Texas Department of Health. May be used to fund a telemedicine services pilot project established by the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, the commission, and regional trauma resource centers. Late penalties assessed against a service provider who fails to timely deliver the surcharges in an amount NTE $100 a day are also deposited to this account.
