Created in Health and Safety code 102.017 in 2001 by H.B. 1831 and H.B. 3088, 77th Leg., R.S. For deposit of $22 (out of total $30 fee) paid for special Texans Conquer Cancer license plates. Remaining $8 to State Highway Fund (0006). Account authorized  to receive gifts and grants. Used to make grants to nonprofit organizations providing support services for cancer patients and their families and to defray costs of administration. New Cancer Prevention and Research Institute (Agency 542) established effective 11-6-2007 on approval by voters of H.J.R. 90. Effective 7-1-2008, Agency 542 will be used for all future activity. Account deleted per HB 14, 80th Leg., R.S. and revenue redirected to GR Account 5136 Cancer Prevention and Research.
