Purpose
Account in the General Revenue Fund effective January 1, 2009, from civil penalties for violating sales of cigarettes from: manufacturers, wholesale dealers or agents, NTE $100 per pack but NMT $100,000 within a 30 day period; retailers NTE $100 per pack but NMT $25,000 within a 30 day period; persons making false certifications, NTE $75,000 for a first violation or $250,000 for subsequent violation, or; any other violation by a person under the chapter NTE $1,000 for the first violation or $5,000 for subsequent violations. Used only by the state fire marshal to support fire safety and prevention programs.
