Purpose

Revenue to the account consists of voluntary contributions made when an individual applies for an original or renewal driver's license or personal identification certificate. Money in the account is used to establish a grant program for nonprofit organizations that provide support to employees of the Department of Public Safety. The agency may also deduct money for reasonable expenses in administering the program.
