Revenue Object 3018 – Special Vehicle Permits – Unladen Lift Equipment Over Maximum Weight and Width

Annual permits which authorize the movement of unladen lift equipment motor vehicles which because of their design for use as lift equipment exceed the maximum weight and width limitations prescribed by statute. The fee for this permit is $100 annually.

The department may also issue an optional trip permit for the movement of unladen lift equipment motor vehicles. This fee is set by the department.

Collecting agency changed from Texas Department of Transportation (601) by H.B. 3097, 81st Leg., R.S.

Prior to H.B. 2202, 83rd Leg., R.S., $50 of the $100 permit fee was deposited to General Revenue and the remainder to the State Highway Fund 0006. H.B 2202 allocated 90% of the remainder to Fund 0006 and 10% to the new Department of Motor Vehicles Fund, which was not created per funds consolidation (H.B. 6). Therefore the 10% allocation was deposited to General Revenue 0001. The same 90/10 split applied to the optional permit fee, which, prior to H.B. 2202, was deposited all to Fund 0006.

S.B. 1512, 84th Leg., R.S. recreated the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles Fund and it was exempted by H.B. 6, 84th Leg., R.S. Deposit of 10% changed from General Revenue to Texas Department of Motor Vehicles Fund (0010). Effective 9/1/16.
