Revenue Object 3035 – Commercial Transportation Fees – Commercial Motor Carriers

A motor carrier may not operate a commercial motor vehicle on a road or highway unless registered. Application fee is $100 plus a $10 fee for each vehicle requiring registration. Supplemental registration, re-registration and renewal fees are $10 for each vehicle.

In order to transport household goods or hazardous materials, the motor carrier must show evidence of insurance and may be charged a $100 fee for filing proof of insurance (see revenue code 3038). The department may establish one or more escrow accounts for prepayment of a fee. The department may vary the registration period to provide an optional two-year registration ($20) or optional temporary registration for less than one year ($10).
