Created in 1963 by the 58th Leg., R.S. (ch. 196, p. 523) in TEX. FIN. CODE ANN. §§ 152.205, 152.502. No person, except banks, credit unions, building and loan associations, savings and loan associations, savings banks and telegraph companies selling only travelers checks and escrow or trust fund checks issued by a title company or attorney, shall engage in the business of selling checks, without obtaining a license. A non-refundable application fee in an amount established by rule was charged. Annual renewal fee was an amount established by rule. Civil penalties set in amount NTE $1,000 for each violation or $1,000 for each day that the violation continues. Collected by Texas Department of Banking, Agency 451.
