Created in 1971 by H.B. 841, 62nd Leg., R.S. in TEX. LOC. GOV'T CODE ANN. sec.133.102 and TEX. GOV'T CODE ANN. sec.102.021. For persons convicted of certain offenses under the Penal Code to pay in addition to all other costs, court costs for special services as follows:
- A defendant convicted of a felony -- $133.
- A defendant convicted of a class A or B misdemeanor -- $83.
- Conviction of a nonjailable misdemeanor --$40.
Persons convicted of certain offenses under the Penal Code pay in addition to all GR Account -- Criminal Justice Planning receives 12.5537% of total fees collected.
Deposited by Comptroller when received from custodian of municipal or county treasury who is required to remit not later than the last day of the month following each calendar quarter. A municipality or county may retain 10% of collections as a service fee. Administered by Governor -- Fiscal, Agency 300.
