Description
The Board by rule shall establish reasonable and necessary fees to produce sufficient revenue to cover cost of administration. The fees may be adjusted but the Board may not set a fee for an amount less than the amount of the fee on 9-1-93. Included are fees for:
- Application and examination
- Re-examination
- Special license issue
- Renewal (Biennial)
- Endorsement
- Approval of new programs
- Temporary permit for refresher course
- Reactivating from inactive status
- Filing of affidavit in re-change of name
- Endorsement to another state
- Verification of license
- Accustomization permit
- Docketing fees
- Retired status
- Board may collect $5 per license for peer assistance program
- Initial prescriptive authority
- Out patient anesthesia inspection and advisory opinion
- Disciplinary monitoring fees
- Remedial education course
- Approval and renewal fees
Late fees:
90 days or less - renewal fee plus late fee amount set by board.
90 days to 1 year - all unpaid renewal fees plus amount equal to twice the late fee paid for 90 days or less.
Over 1 year - must reapply
Board shall assess a surcharge between $3 and $5 for professional and between $2 and $3 for vocational nurses to renew a license. Nine and six cents, respectively, used for administration, remainder used to implement the Nursing Resource Section in the Health Care Coordinating Council if the surcharges are appropriated to fund the section.

Licenses are renewed on dates determined by board.

Note
Fees were previously deposited to the Professional Nurse Registration Fund Account (0138) and the Vocational Nurse Examiners Fund Account (0266). However, $10 of the professional nursing fee was deposited to the Professional Nursing Student Financial Aid and Loan Repayment Fund Account (0657) and $5 of the vocational nursing fee was deposited to the Vocational Nursing Student Financial Aid and Loan Repayment Fund Account (0658). All of these dedications and accounts were abolished August 31, 1995 per § 403.094, Government Code).
