Description
The department provides medical and rehabilitative services to disabled children and children with cancer whose parents or legal guardian cannot bear the cost of care and persons with other diseases or conditions specified by the board. A person who has a legal obligation to provide care and treatment for a person who can bear a portion of the expenses is required to pay for or reimburse the department for a proportional share of the cost of services rendered. In addition, when services are covered by other benefits such as insurance or Social Security, the department shall be reimbursed to the extent of the services provided when the other benefit is received.
