Description
Persons convicted of certain offenses under the Penal Code pay in addition to all other costs, court costs for special services as follows:
- A defendant convicted of a felony -- $185.
- A defendant convicted of a class A or B misdemeanor -- $147.
- Conviction of a nonjailable misdemeanor -- $62.
Judicial and Court Personnel Training Fund receives 3.3224% of total fees collected.

Effective 01/01/2020, S.B. 346, 86th Leg., R.S. increased court costs for felonies from $133 to $185, Class A or B misdemeanor from $83 to $147 and nonjailable misdemeanors from $40 to $62. S.B. 346 changed percentage from 4.8362% to 3.3224%.
S.B. 41, 87th Leg., R.S. repealed Government Code Ch. 102, and index of existing court costs and fees.
