As an alternative to the excess weight permit under Transportation Code 623.011, the department may issue a permit for a vehicle transporting timber in certain timber producing counties. The permit fee is $900.

Added by H.B. 2741, 83rd Leg., R.S. Bill requires fee to be split between State Highway Fund (0006) and counties. This dedication was not exempted in the funds consolidation bill (H.B. 6), therefore the state portion of the fee will be deposited to General Revenue.
S.B. 1171, 84th Leg., R.S. reduced fee from $1,500 to $900.
H.B. 2620, 86th Leg., R.S. removed fee split between Fund 0006 and counties.
