Created in 2003 by H.B. 730, 78th Leg., R.S. in Property Code § 416.004. A person may not act as a builder unless the person holds a certificate of registration. An original application fee up to $500, a renewal fee up to $300, and a late fee that doesn't exceed amount of application or renewal fee. Fee schedule including duplicate certificates is set by the commission. All fees are nonrefundable. Amended by H.B. 1038, 80th Leg., R.S. This section expired 9-1-09 due to Sunset of the Texas Residential Construction Commission, Agency 370 and related statute.
