A broker of personal data must register with the Secretary of State and pay a $300 fee. Annual registration renewal is $300.
A data broker in violation of Business and Commerce Code Ch. 509 may be assessed a civil penalty of at least $100 per day per violation and any unpaid registration fees. May not exceed $10,000 assessed against the same broker in a 12-month period. (Collected under revenue object 3717)
