Provisions for the sale of public free school land were first provided for in Article VII Section 4 of the Texas Constitution. The numerous requirements governing the sale of these lands are set out in Natural Resources Code, Ch. 51, Subchapter C.
The sale of the land is effective from the date of the receipt and filing of the application affidavit, obligation and the payment of 1/5 of the price offered.
90% of the money is deposited to the fund or account most probable to receive the money as determined by GLO. 10% is held in suspense until final determination is made.
