Created in 1997 by H.B. 2272, 75th Leg., R.S. under TEX. GOV'T CODE ANN. §§ 102.019, 102.021; TEX. LOC. GOV'T CODE ANN. § 133.102. Persons convicted of certain offenses under the Penal Code pay in addition to all other costs, court costs for special service. Deposited by Comptroller when received from custodian of municipality or county treasury, required to remit not later than last day of the month following each calendar quarter. Municipality or county may retain 10% as a service fee. Administered by the Texas Department of Public Safety, Agency 405. Amended by S.B. 1180, 78th Leg., R.S. Originally repealed by H.B. 2424, 78th Leg., R.S., however reference remained in § 133.102, Local Government Code. Local Government Code § 133.102 reference deleted by H.B. 442, 82nd Leg., R.S.
