A misdemeanor fine between $100 and $200 for permitting a child under age 17 to ride in a passenger vehicle not secured by a safety belt. Misdemeanor fine for not securing a young child in a safety seat is between $25 and $250.

Municipality or county who shall remit an amount equal to 50% of total fines collected to the comptroller.
