Created September 1, 1997 by S.B. 820, 75th Leg., R.S. under TEX. GOV'T CODE ANN. §§ 2177.001, 2177.002. Comptroller established and managed an electronic procurement marketplace to make state procurement information available to political subdivisions through the marketplace on a fee-for-service basis. Comptroller established and managed electronic commerce network. Each agency capable of participating in the network participated in the network and in contracts entered by the Comptroller for establishment and support of the network. Fee charged agency for network services. Private businesses, political subdivisions and other public entities paid fee for network services. Formerly handled by the Texas Building and Procurement Commission. General Services Commission abolished and Texas Building and Procurement Commission created by S.B. 311, 77th Leg., R.S. Transferred to Comptroller's office by H.B. 3560, 80th Leg., R.S. Repealed by H.B. 1705, 81st Leg., R.S., eff. 9-1-09.
