Description
The commission shall impose a 9-1-1 equalization surcharge on each local exchange access line or equivalent local exchange access line and each wireless telecommunications connection. The surcharge is a fixed amount and may not exceed 10 cents per month for each local exchange access line, equivalent local exchange access line or wireless telecommunications connection. Funds used to support regional planning commissions and poison control centers. May be used to fund a telemedicine services pilot project established by the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, the commission, and regional trauma resource centers.

Note
The Comptroller may establish collection procedures to recover the costs of collection from a customer, service provider or business service user that fails to timely deliver the surcharges. These cost recoveries are deposited to General Revenue under other revenue object codes.
