Purpose
Each fiscal year, $3.05 million in insurance maintenance taxes collected under Section 251.004, Insurance Code are reallocated from General Revenue to this fund. Other revenue sources include gifts or grants from the United States government, local or regional governments, private sources, or other sources. The Water Development Board may invest money in the account per Section 404.024, Government Code.
Used by the board to aid, advise, and coordinate the efforts of political subdivisions endeavoring to qualify for participation in the National Flood Insurance Program. May also be used for various other flood related activities including the collection and analysis of flood-related information, flood planning, protection, mitigation, and outreach programs.
