Purpose

A special fund in the Treasury outside of General Revenue composed of money transferred at the direction of the Legislature, gifts, grants, interest earned and amounts recovered under heath professional contracts and amounts recovered under promissory notes from the rural veterinarian loan repayment program. Used only for the rural communities health care investment program to provide stipends, loan reimbursements, the rural veterinarian loan repayment program and to pay expenses of managing the fund. The 77th Legislature appropriated $2.5 million from tobacco settlement proceeds to establish the corpus of the fund.
