Description
- The Department may issue personal identification cards, similar in form but distinguishable in color from driver's licenses. Cards expire on a date specified by the Department. The fee for preparation and issuance of this card is $15 for a person under 60 years of age and $5 for a person 60 or older.
- The Department may issue to persons who have a physical handicap or health condition that may cause unconsciousness, incoherence or inability to communicate a specially notated personal identification card that indicates the particular handicap or health condition by word, symbol or code. There is no fee for preparation and issuance of this card or for duplicate disability or health condition certificate.
- Duplicate ID card fee $10.
- $20 fee collected for issue or renewal to person subject to registration requirements under Ch. 62, Code of Criminal Procedure (sex offender registration).
- Fee for issuing an enhanced personal ID certificate for additional personal protection in amounts necessary to implement and administer the program.
- $5 fee for issuing a personal ID certificate to a person whose residence is a correctional or parole facility. Expires on 1st birthday after 1st anniversary of issuance date.
- Department may issue an election ID certificate who has no other form of ID. May not collect a fee and certificate may not be used as a personal ID card.
- Fee for a personal identification certificate issued to a person who is not a citizen, national, or legal permanent resident of the U.S. or a refugee or asylee lawfully admitted into the U.S. and valid for up to one year is $25.
- Disabled veterans, foster or homeless youth, victims and children of victims of family violence, are exempt from the driver's license fees.
