Description


Entrance fees to state parks are set by the department and deposited to GR Account 0064 - State Parks unless needed for bond payment. If needed, they are deposited to interest and sinking funds for retiring outstanding park development bonds (Texas Park Development Bond Interest and Sinking Fund 0409).

Persons over 65 and certain disabled veterans and individuals may acquire a parklands passport which provides for waived or discounted admission fees. Passports issued on or before 8-31-95 to a person born before 9-1-30 entitles the holder to free admission. Passports issued after 8-31-95 entitles the holder to certain discounted or waived entrance fees.

Entrance fees are set by the Historical Commission for certain historic sites.

Fees to be deposited to the Texas Park and Development Bond Interest and Sinking Fund (0409) were previously cleared through the Parks Fee Trust Account (0965). This account is no longer active and fees to cover outstanding bonds are deposited directly to Fund 0409.

H.B. 12, 80th Leg., R.S. transferred certain historic sites to the Historical Commission.

Historical Commission fees previously deposited to GR Account 5139 - Historic Site. Account was closed at agency's request eff. 9-1-09 and deposits moved to General Revenue.

The Historic Site Account was recreated by S.B. 26 and H.B. 3317 (funds consolidation bill) 86th Leg., R.S. Deposit moved from GR 0001 to GR Account 5139 on January 1, 2020.
