Created by 1983 by H.B. 965, 68th Leg., R.S. under TEX. TRANSP. CODE ANN. § § 502.103, 502.172, 502.1725. County may impose an extra fee of $10 for each vehicle registered in the county. Fee may be imposed to take effect on Jan. 1 of a year. When Texas Department of Transportation collects the extra fee they remit the entire fee to the county. On Monday of each week, county deposits 97% of the fee to county road and bridge fund and remits 3% to the Department as a service fee to be used to defray the department's administrative expenses. Inactivated in 2008 for non-utilization.
