This object code is used to pay eligible pre-litigation claims for Chapter 101, 104 or 105, Civil Practice and Remedies Code and/or to settle a claim made pursuant to the Section 201.106 Texas Transportation Code.
Expenditure code 7221 includes, but is NOT limited to:
Texas Tort/Pre-litigation and related claims are processed with required pre-payment review and audit approval by the comptroller to ensure that all statutory requirements are met and all reviews have been performed. For tracking purposes, the claims must be coded exactly in accordance with comptroller instructions. Additionally, agencies must be mindful about the circumstances under which these payments are to be reported to the IRS.
This code may NOT include any payment as result of litigation.
