Description
The Department of Agriculture may receive and hold livestock or other animals transported in international trade, and collect reasonable fees for yardage, maintenance, feed, medical care, and other necessary expenses incurred in processing (146.021).
The Animal Health Commission may regulate the movement, including by railroad or common carrier, of livestock, domestic animals or domestic fowl into this state from another state, territory or country. The commission may provide for issue of a certificate of veterinary inspection to a person transporting livestock, exotic livestock, domestic or exotic fowl and shall charge a fee for each certificate (161.081 and 161.0601).
A seller, distributor or transporter of live domestic or exotic fowl shall register and pay a fee in amounts necessary to recover administration costs of the commission (161.0411).
The commission may charge a fee for an inspection made by the commission (161.060(a)).
The commission by rule may set and collect a fee for any service they provide, including inspection, testing, obtaining samples from animals, disease prevention, transport, and others. These provisions are set to expire September 1, 2015 (161.060(b)).
An administrative penalty may be assessed for violations up to $5,000 per violation (collected under revenue object 3770) (161.148).
Due Date
Fees are due to the Department of Agriculture prior to the removal of livestock from departmental processing facilities. Domestic/exotic fowl registration fee - Annually. The remaining - as determined by the Animal Health Commission.
